That was a rare smile in the first few days. Her world was turned upside down and she was left to react. Today, she is a totally different child. She has aged far beyond 5 months. My pastor's wife commented this morning that she looks like a 3 1/2 year old. That is so encouraging! Here is a picture taken just a couple of days ago.
This is her serious look. She was too concerned with what I was doing and wondering about the camera, that she didn't smile. I waited for months to get a picture of her smiling. The few updates didn't do her justice. Since being home, she is the happiest little girl, full of smiles. They brighten our day.
I wanted to add a few pictures to show you what we've been up to. We had a 3 1/2 birthday party, which was a lot of fun. We missed her third birthday and wanted to celebrate. I don't think she totally understood, but the adults enjoyed it. She got her fingers in the frosting, but didn't eat any cake. She is still working on how to use her mouth and isn't quite sure how to chew. She's getting better every day.
Getting it all figured out. It took a little help from her sister.
I would love to know what is going through her head:)
Her very own computer.
The box is half the size of her.
Tape stuck to her finger!
The family wasn't gone 10 minutes and she was out cold on the couch.
The transformation blows my mind. It is totally a God thing. There isn't any other way to describe it! The first day we met her, she didn't walk, barely talked, and didn't eat anything, only drank milk. Today, she doesn't just walk, she walks backwards, on her tip toes, and she runs! She babbles all the time, although she doesn't say words yet. She is learning to chew and can eat some foods with texture. Just last week she fed herself a puff (kind of like a Cheerio) for the first time. It's kind of like a snowball effect, and we are excited to see what each day brings. We are so humbled to be her parents.
What a doll!
