Hong Kong Disney

Hong Kong is absolutely beautiful.  Driving in from Guangzhou was almost 3 hours, but the scenery was fabulous.  You cross a couple of neat bridges and there is water almost everywhere you look.  Everything was such a beautiful green, too.  The first thing you notice is that you go from driving on the right hand side of the road to the left.  Hong Kong was British controlled up until the late 1990s, I believe, and that is why they drive on the opposite side of the road.  I'm not sure I would remember which side to drive on if I made the trip back and forth.

If you get a chance to visit Disney in Hong Kong, take it.  We were tired and about ready to be home, but it was such a fun day, I'm glad we did it for the kids.  Unfortunately, it rained until about noon.  Okay, actually, it poured!  We were completely soaked, but the kids got Disneyland rain ponchos for souvenirs:)

We headed to Space Mountain first since it is an indoor ride, followed by the Stitch Encounter, in Mandarin. We didn't understand a single word, but it was fun anyway, and DRY!  Everything at Disney is in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.  Some shows are language specific, like the Stitch Encounter.

Here are a few pictures from the day:

Waiting to check in!

The back of the hotel bordered the ocean!

She thinks her little feet belong on the table for some reason.

The boys in the piano shaped pool.  If you look real closely, you can see the piano keys on the bottom of the pool to the right of them.  From above you can tell the pool is shaped like a grand piano.

Isabelle and me poolside.  She's not real crazy about swimming, yet.

Pouring rain at Disney.

I think this is the mine car ride.  It was really fun.

Taking a break!

So glad she like her stroller, and that it came with a rain cover.

Some things are the same at Disney.

I loved how everything was in dual languages.

Taking the bus back to the hotel!

Kenzi, Christian and I went back for the fireworks.  The sign was so pretty lit up.

The whale fountain on your way to the gate.  You can't see it in this picture, but Mickey is surfing on the water from the whale's spout.

My kids are strong!

One more thing I have to mention.  When the 3 of us went back for fireworks we had time to catch the Stitch Encounter again, this time in English.  It isn't anything fancy, just a large screen with Stitch and he interacts with the crowd.  He picks people to talk to and then asks them questions.  The third person he chose to talk to was Kenzi.  Stitch asked her what her name was, told her she was pretty, and then asked if she had a boyfriend.  She responded, "No."  Stitch then told her he'd be her boyfriend.  He proceeded to name a planet after her and then blow that planet up.  It was so funny.  Toward the end of the show he is being chased by the bad alien and you hear Stitch say goodbye to the girls he talked with first, then goodbye to the man whom he met in space prison (just another person in the audience), and then the last thing he said was, "Kenzi, I love you."  It was just a fun way to end our day at Disney.  Christian thinks it is pretty cool that his sister is dating such a famous character.  It's fine by me too, he's harmless, and not real:)

The fireworks were beautiful!  It was such a memorable day for all of us and a fun memory as a family of 6.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Lilo and Stitch, Stitch is the alien on the surf board (and my daughter's boyfriend)!
